Current mood: thankful

So... this is kinda silly and pointless. But I was just going through videos on my hard drive and I came across the video I made last year about my summer in NH with Nicki, and it made me want to watch some of the original footage, so I did.

And there was just this one little bit that really got to me tonight for some reason. In a good way. It was from one night/morning (2am) when Nicki was just babbling to the camera, as she liked to do. lol. And I was just sitting in the background and I wouldn't cooperate and talk to the camera or give her a topic to talk about, so she called me a psycho hose beast and I pinched her on the butt.

1. If any of my friends I'd been around my whole life called me names like that, even in fun, it would have hurt. I know it's stupid, but I grew up incredibly sensitive to any form of teasing. My family couldn't even tease me, I would get so upset, I was so insecure. And I guess I never knew if any of my friends actually cared enough that they didn't mean it when they called me names. Which sucks. Everyone should have friends they can trust and truly believe care about them. I didn't. Not until Nicki. She could call me whatever the hell she liked and I'd just laugh or flip her off because I knew she loved me as much as I loved her and she didn't mean any of it. I knew it.
2. I can't think of any of my friends then or now that I would feel comfortable enough with to just lean over and pinch their ass. lol. Keep in mind, at this point in our friendship, I'd known her about 6 months and had only known her in person for 1 month. But it just felt like I'd known her forever.

Anyway, like I said, it's stupid, and I'm not even sure why I'm sharing it. It's gonna sound silly, especially after you watch it and see how random and pointless it is, but everyone should have a friend like this at least once in their lives, even if they friendship doesn't last forever.

</ babble>

It's amazing, having friends like that. They're hard to find, but always worth it.

Also, your accent is awesome. Just saying.

Thanks. lol I don't think I sound like that anymore though. All my family in the UK who don't speak to me on a regular basis are always saying I sound different now, more american. But Americans all think I still sound so British. lol

I can't watch it right now (without headphones with me atm), but I know it isn't silly, it isn't pointless at all.

I am sure there is little better than things like that (you know what I mean). And that last you say: absolutely. <3

(And that video - the one you posted before - is really, really special, by the way, Ali. You should know it seems so even from "all the way" over here. *hug*)

I'd pinch anyone's ass. :p

I so totally want to have a sleep over now. :( I miss my friends (both of them!).

I also want to have a super-huge Lit!Party, because I know that a lot of you would be stupendous face-to-face friends if only we were closer. What do you say? ;) I've been telling Ari that we need to plan this! Are you in???

I also just have to say that I have never even seen a picture of you before!!, and you are positively adorable. :)

I'M IN! Seriously, we need to get on this. I've been saying so for years. And, really, most of us are old enough that parental permission would be unnecessary.

God, we've been talking about this for like 5 years now. I'd be in, if anyone could ever agree on a date and place. First everyone was too young, now I think every one is too busy and/or broke. :p

Firstly, LOL, just so you know I was really out of it on lack of sleep last night. XP Not that I didn't mean what I said but probably I said it weirdly! Heh.

Secondly, I dunno, I totally vote for teleportation ability. ;)

How about this summer? I could fly to Seattle, then you and I could fly to the east coast somewhere and meet up with Fizz and Leigh...we'd have to pick up Ari on the way...
Okay, so it's not a perfect plan. YET. Let's brainstorm. :D

I miss having friends like that. I don't have many girl friends these days.

One day, some day, we'll have plan a lit get-together, now that most of the younguns are gettin' growed up.

I don't know what that has to do with anything, but it made me think of that.

Oh wow, I know what you mean. Sadly the people with whom I had friendships like that aren't around anymore, but the memories are so special, even though they hurt a little now.

I could just listen to your voice all day. lol. The accent just can't get any better. (seriously, I watched it twice just for that!)

And I would so be there for that lit gathering.

Hurt is an understatement. It's so weird how they can be so special and hurt so much at the same time. I watch footage of Nicki and I'm torn between laughing my ass off and crying my heart out.

Exactly. I actually have a box where I put the pictures that make me sad, so I don't have to see them all the time, but when I do look back at them I can't help but grin and giggle at the stuff we did and said.

Even my old Hanson stuff is a mixture of sad and happy, because my childhood best friend Melissa was also my 'hanson friend'. It was her me and Hanson, and we had so much fun. I swear listening to MON makes me weepy, b/c I associate it with that time of my life.

Same here. The MON period was such a strange time in my life. On the one hand, I was incredibly depressed back then, so it reminds me of sadder times, but at the same time, Hanson was one of the few things that cheered me up, so it makes me happy. And I'll always associate Hanson with Nicki, cos we met in a Hanson chat room, so without them, I wouldn't have met her. And even though our friendship ending was one of the most painful experiences of my life, for the time that we were friends, it was the most amazing friendship I'd ever had and she pretty much kept me alive for a while there, I think.

:$ Anyway...

I always babble on this topic, sorry. :$

Its okay. I pretty much relate to everything you say about that kind of stuff. And it makes Hanson be such a more important thing than just a band, because they represent a period of your life, ya know? I still can't believe its been almost 11 years since MON came out. In a lot of ways I don't feel anymore grown up now than I did then.

Haha. I don't feel more grown up in a lot of ways either. Not when I think about the fact that Tay is only 2 months older than me and he already has 3 kids! But I've been married a year longer than him, so I have him beat there I guess. ;) It's just weird to see how far they've come and to feel like... other than moving to the US and getting married, I haven't really done much except age. lol

But they definitely do represent a period in my life and that does make them more than just a band to me. But it's also the fact that they are my age, which no other band I liked was, and (contrary to what I just said) I grew up with them. And they've always kinda just represented... possibility, I guess? I don't know. They make me hopeful for some reason. lol They don't look at the world and just complain about what's wrong, they look at the world and say "okay, this sucks, what can we do to make it better?". Or even just with smaller stuff, like their own careers and all the crap with IDJ, they could have given up or done what they were told or failed completely, but none of that was ever even an option to them because they just don't take shit from anyone. lol I wanna be more like that!!! Why can't I be more like that? :p

You're British? I didn't even know. Wow no wonder I like you. I'm sure I was British in a past life or something coz I'm soooo bloody obsessed with everything British. I don't even feel Australian.

Nan's computer doesn't have a sound card so I can't hear you on the video. :( But I'm sure your accent is WAY cool. :p

And it's always great to have a friend as good as that. Cori [[info]coopersnooper] and I have been friends for like 9 or 10 years now, and even though we've never met, you're as close as you can get. My three greatest friends, I all got, thanks to those 3 guys from Tulsa. :)

Do you and Cori not live near one another?

Haha, no Cori lives in Salt Lake City, UT and I live in melbourne, Australia. So yeah, not exactly close! :p

Aw, I'm sorry your friend lives so far away. :( That sucks. My whole family is back in the UK, so I hardly see them. And most of my friends are scattered across the USA and I've never even met them in person. Distance sucks.

And I'm from Norwich, which is in Norfolk. I don't know if you've heard of it. Most people in the USA haven't, if it's not London, they don't know what you're talking about. I just tell them it's in the "pregnant bump" opposite Wales. lol

Yeah all my friends live far away from here. I only have one friend in this city and she's just someone I used to work with and only see every couple of weeks. Oh well.

I do know that area actually. Haha the "pregnant bump" - that's excellent. :)
